Fasten Your Sweet Belt In 2010, my daughter and I wrote a little book about our first year together. I wrote it out of frustration since I knew so little about what to expect when we brought home three older kids from Uganda. It’s a collection of stories, mostly of my mistakes. Looking back, I see all the things I wish I had known and could do differently.
Since then, Agnes and I have spoken on issues with adopting an older child, and she has launched her own ministry of writing, speaking and mission trips. You can learn more about her journey at Jeremiah 29:11 Ministries.

MY EARLY BLOG
Matthew 18:5 I began blogging in 2008 when God stole my heart for the orphan. I named my blog for the scripture “Whoever welcomes a little child welcomes me” ~ Matthew 18:5 I will never forget the first time I read this verse. It literally gripped my soul. If we welcome a child, we welcome Jesus himself. After I read these words, I understood that Jesus waits in the waiting child.
Some of my favorite posts are:
- About loss and waiting in adoption: My Bad Mood
- About how God completely broke our pride by making us BROKE and then rebuilt us how HE wanted us to be: 50 And Broke
- About how we learned to be faithful and God gave us a “free” son! The Free Gift
